About Comic Unknown
Comic Unknown is an independent comic book publisher based in Hialeah, Florida, dedicated to bringing original, creator-owned comic books to life. From horror comics and supernatural stories to unconventional concepts that explore different corners of imagination, we work with creators to publish distinctive stories that deserve to be discovered.
Our catalog is built around original ideas, creative collaboration, and a belief that independent comics should have room to take risks. Whether you're a longtime comic book collector, a reader looking for something different, a comic shop searching for independent titles, or a creator interested in publishing opportunities, Comic Unknown invites you to discover what's beyond the familiar.
From Indie Comic Reviews to Independent Publishing
Comic Unknown began in 2012 as a blog dedicated to reviewing independent comic books. What started as a way to discover and share the work of indie creators gradually grew into something more. Over time, that passion for independent comics led to the development of original stories and, eventually, the creation of Comic Unknown as a publisher.
That evolution continues to shape how we approach publishing today. We value original concepts, distinctive creative voices, and the collaboration that brings a comic book from an initial idea to a finished publication. Our goal is to give readers new worlds to explore while helping creators bring their stories to life through independent comic book publishing.
Human-Created Comics, Without Generative AI
At Comic Unknown, our comic books and stories are created by humans. We do not use generative AI in the creative process for our comics and stories. We believe the ideas, artistic decisions, writing, and collaboration behind a comic are an important part of what makes each project unique. Our approach centers on human creativity and the individual contributions that bring each story to life.
Supporting Creators Through Independent Publishing
Comic Unknown is built around creator-owned comics and collaboration with the people who develop them. We value the creative work that goes into writing, illustrating, coloring, lettering, and producing a comic book, and we recognize that every project brings together different skills and perspectives. We are open to inquiries from independent comic book creators interested in our flagship horror anthology: Phantasmagoria but we are not actively recruiting. We welcome appropriate inquiries from creators who want to introduce themselves and their projects.
Comic Books for Readers, Collectors, and Retailers
We want readers to have opportunities to discover our stories in formats that suit them. Comic Unknown offers comics through our website, digital releases, and Kickstarter campaigns, depending on the project and available rewards.
Collectors can explore available editions and physical releases, while crowdfunding supporters can follow selected projects from campaign launch through publication. We also welcome inquiries from comic book shops and retailers interested in carrying Comic Unknown titles. For wholesale information and retail ordering opportunities, please contact us to discuss our catalog and available offerings.
Discover Something Unknown
Comic Unknown grew from a passion for independent comics into a publishing venture focused on original stories and creator-owned work. We continue to build on that foundation by working with creators, exploring different genres, and bringing distinctive comic book projects to readers.
